Bunker & Sons Transportation, Inc. Settles for $1,000
In June 2025, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Bunker & Sons Transportation, Inc. (Bunker), located in Spreckels, California, for the company’s violation of the Regulation to Reduce Emissions of Diesel Particulate Matter, Oxides of Nitrogen and Other Criteria Pollutants, from In-Use Heavy-Duty Diesel-Fueled Vehicles (Truck and Bus Regulation), as codified in the California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2025.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff documented that Bunker failed to comply with the heavy-duty engine model year compliance schedule as defined in the Regulation and failed to accurately report vehicles in the Truck Regulation Upload, Compliance and Reporting System (TRUCRS).
To settle the case, Bunker agreed to the civil penalty of $1,000 per violation for a total settlement amount of $1,000. The full amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. Bunker also agreed to report noncompliant vehicles into TRUCRS. Terms of the settlement require Bunker to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward.
