Brusco Tug and Barge, Inc. Settles For $46,584
In August 2026, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Brusco Tug and Barge, Inc. (BTB), with its principal location in Longview, Washington, for the company’s violation of the Airborne Toxic Control Measure for Commercial Harborcraft (CHC Regulation), as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2299.5 and title 17, section 93118.5.
An investigation conducted by CARB Enforcement Division staff showed that BTB failed to adhere to engine compliance timelines, and violated a low-use exemption set forth in the CHC Regulation. To settle the case, BTB agreed to the penalty of $7,764 for each of six violations in three of its vessels, for a total settlement amount of $46,584.
Terms of the settlement include a requirement for BTB to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward. BTB worked cooperatively with CARB staff to quickly resolve this matter, and implemented additional measures to reduce the potential of any future violations.
