BP West Coast Products LLC Case Settles for $35,000
In November 2011, BP paid $35,000 in penalties for the sale, offer for sale, supply, or offer for supply of regular grade CARBOB in violation of California reformulated gasoline regulations. On May 20, 2009, ARB inspectors obtained a retain sample from BP Carson refinery tank 42, representing batch number 090316. Laboratory analysis of this retain sample revealed a Reid vapor pressure in excess of the Reid vapor pressure limit specified in the predictive model for that batch. At all relevant times, the foregoing regular CARBOB was subject to, or controlled, regulated, or otherwise governed by the California RFG Phase 3 predictive model limits reported for this batch.
