Planning and Capacity Building Request for Applications Question & Answer Session #2: On Jan. 27 via remote access, CARB is hosting a second question and answer workshop for questions related to eligibility, application components and process, and other aspects of the current Request for Applications for Planning and Capacity Building projects. These projects are intended to increase transportation equity in disadvantaged and low-income communities by improving the local understanding of residents’ transportation needs, helping develop organizational and community capacity-building, and preparing communities to implement community-identified projects that fill transportation gaps and improve clean transportation access. There will be two sessions: (1) A one hour session specifically for Tribal Applicants, and (2) a one-hour session open to all applicants.
Research Webinar: Assessing the Early Impacts of the Clean Miles Standard on California Ride-hailing Drivers: On Jan. 28 via remote access, CARB staff, along with researchers from the University of California, Davis, will hold a seminar to explore the challenges that ride-hailing drivers face with zero-emission vehicle use in California. This project was designed to give insight into how to get more Transportation Network Company (TNC) drivers into electric vehicles. In this seminar, the research team will share findings on three topics: (1) Current use of electric vehicles by TNC drivers and how factors such as income, weekly hours of TNC driving, and access to home charging influence these trends, (2) Key barriers to purchasing and driving electric vehicles that TNC drivers face, and (3) Policy recommendations to help TNC drivers through better education, incentives, and fueling infrastructure.
Public Meeting: Proposed Concepts for CARB’s Cumulative Impacts Research: On Jan. 30 via remote access (a meeting link will be emailed after registration closes on Jan. 27), CARB is holding a public meeting to seek input on the development of a research concept on the cumulative health impacts of pollutants and environmental stressors on different populations and communities. During this meeting staff will summarize selected scientific research and reports on cumulative impacts for use in regulatory analyses and present tentative research concepts.
