Evening Community Meeting — Clean Transportation Incentives for a Cleaner California: On January 21 via remote access, CARB will host an evening community meeting to discuss plans for funding clean transportation projects; provide updates on incentive project implementation and other CARB initiatives; and offer a forum for community members to express their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions. CARB hosts a series of monthly evening community meetings on the third Tuesday of most months in order to hold focused discussions on CARB’s Clean Transportation Incentives Funding Plan development process, which details how the agency will spend money on projects related to zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) and improving air quality. Although the Funding Plan is generally developed between May and November, CARB staff will continue to hold monthly evening community meetings outside of the Funding Plan development timeline. More information can be found on the Low Carbon Transportation Incentives and AQIP Meetings and Workshops page.
Inglewood Oil Field Communities Data Analysis Update Meeting: On January 22 in Los Angeles, CARB will host a community meeting to discuss the analysis and preliminary results of the air monitoring conducted around the Inglewood Oil Field (IOF) by Study of Neighborhood Air near Petroleum Sources (SNAPS) Program staff. The SNAPS team includes staff from CARB and the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA). The air monitoring study commenced in June 2023, and staff plan to conclude in the early part of 2025. Air quality has been measured at two stationary trailers — one located west of IOF, and the second on the eastern edge. The two stationary sites have been supplemented by periodic mobile monitoring in neighborhoods surrounding IOF. More information can be found in the CARB and OEHHA meeting bulletin as well as on CARB's SNAPS IOF community meeting page.
Board Meeting: On January 23 in Sacramento and via webcast, the Board will hear the following agenda items: 1) proposed contract to assess the health impacts of brake and tire wear emissions in overburdened communities of the San Joaquin Valley; 2) proposed research contract with the University of California, Berkeley, titled, “Reducing Exposure with Air Cleaners and Technology (REACT) in At-Risk Communities”; 3) proposed 2024 amendments to area designations for State ambient air quality standards; 4) Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM2.5) area designation recommendations for the revised federal annual PM2.5 standard; and 5) a report on CARB’s established and expected priorities for 2025.
