Please see below for upcoming public events for the week of February 24, 2025.
Senate Bill 1075 Technical Analysis Workshop: On February 25 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to discuss the technical analyses underway to support the development of a report on hydrogen production and use in California, as required by Senate Bill (SB) 1075. This bill identifies specific analyses as part of broader requirements to evaluate hydrogen production, transmission, distribution, and end use to accelerate progress toward the State’s climate and energy goals. To support this work, CARB contracted with Energy and Environmental Economics, Inc., which will provide an overview of their technical analyses and preliminary findings at this workshop. Participants will have an opportunity to provide feedback during the workshop, and stakeholders are encouraged to submit written comments following the workshop through March 11, 2025, at 5 p.m. A link to submit written feedback will be posted to the SB 1075 meetings webpage.
Public Landscaper Workgroup Meeting on Small Off-Road Engines: On February 26 via remote access, CARB will host a public workgroup to discuss new rules and incentives to help in the purchase of electric landscape equipment. CARB staff will provide information to professional landscapers on updates to the small off-road engine (SORE) regulations that affect new engines used in landscape equipment. The discussion will include experiences with zero-emission equipment (ZEE), smart-charging technologies, and incentive programs. The public will have the opportunity to ask questions. SOREs are spark-ignition engines with rated power at or below 19 kilowatts (25.5 horsepower) used in nonstationary equipment. Emissions from SOREs have decreased by 50% since 2000 due to SORE regulations and increasing adoption of ZEE. Further reductions of SORE emissions are needed despite this progress. CARB has adopted amendments to the SORE regulations that will transition SORE equipment to ZEE as soon as possible to achieve additional emissions reductions. Rulemaking documents can be found on the SORE rulemaking page.
Public Meeting on California’s Comprehensive Climate Action Plan: On February 26 in Sacramento, CalEPA and CARB will host a public meeting to discuss major elements of California’s Comprehensive Climate Action Plan (CCAP). The plan will offer a roadmap to provide cleaner forms of energy, including increased access to zero-emissions options that will give Californians choices to help clean the air and fight climate change. To help inform development of CCAP, the public is invited to participate in the plan’s meeting discussion as well as contribute information by completing the California Climate Action Survey. CCAP is a key deliverable under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (U.S. EPA) Climate Pollution Reduction Grants (CPRG) Program.
2025 Industry Day: On February 26 in Calexico, CARB staff will deliver a presentation and host a public workshop at the California Highway Patrol’s (CHP) 2025 Industry Day. The public will have the opportunity to meet with CARB staff and industry professionals to learn about the latest transportation-related developments.
Public Workshop on Carbon Capture, Removal, Utilization, and Storage Program: On February 27 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to provide a legislative and regulatory overview as well as panel sessions with expert speakers on the topics of carbon capture, utilization, and storage (CCUS) and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) market trends, technological readiness and potential, and broader deployment benefits and considerations. Senate Bill (SB) 905 requires CARB to create the Carbon Capture, Removal, Utilization, and Storage Program to evaluate, demonstrate, and regulate CCUS and CDR projects and technology. The public will have the opportunity to submit written comments after the workshop through the public comments docket. Additional resources, updates, and meeting recordings will be available on the Carbon Capture, Removal, Utilization, and Storage: Meetings & Workshops page.
