BNSF and UP Case Settles for $5,600

Twice each calendar year, SEIES staff conducts inspections at rail yards located throughout California to verify compliance with the ARB/Railroad Statewide Agreement. The Agreement provides for inspections of rail yards at most BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad (UP) facilities in California. In August 2010, settlements totaling $5,600 were concluded with BNSF and UP for Notices of Violation (NOVs) issued during April and May 2010. Planning and coordinating activities for the September/October 2010 round of inspections are underway.
