BNP Cabinet Outlet Inc. Settles For $36,778
In August 2026, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with BNP Cabinet Outlet Inc. (BNP Cabinet), with its principal location in Sacramento, California, for the company’s violation of the Airborne Toxic Control Measure to Reduce Formaldehyde Emissions from Composite Wood Products (Composite Wood Regulation), as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 93120 et seq.
An investigation conducted by CARB Enforcement Division staff showed that BNP Cabinet failed to put a statement of compliance on customer invoices or bills of lading, distributing products that were not labeled with a compliant product label, and purchasing composite wood products without taking reasonable prudent precautions as set forth in the Composite Wood Regulation. To settle the case, BNP Cabinet agreed to the penalty of $163.33 per day 189 days of violation and a $3,000 for a three-day violation for not taking reasonable prudent precautions for a total settlement amount of $36,778. This penalty takes into consideration the company’s proof of financial hardship.
Terms of the settlement include a requirement for BNP Cabinets to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward. BNP Cabinetsworked cooperatively with CARB staff to quickly resolve this matter and implemented additional measures to reduce the potential of any future violations.
