Blacky Trucking Company, Inc. Case Settles for $36,875
In June 2015, Blacky Trucking Company, Inc. agreed to pay $36,875.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $27,656.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $9,219.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Blacky Trucking Company, Inc. had failed to: (1) properly self-inspect its diesel trucks, as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP); and (2) failed to bring their fleet in compliance with the applicable diesel particulate matter BACT requirements. ARB documented violations as they related to PSIP and the Statewide Truck and Bus (STB) regulation. To settle the case, Blacky Trucking Company, Inc. agreed to the $36,875.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, STB regulation and other ARB programs.
