BG Trucking, Inc. Settles For $86,000
In June 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with BG Trucking, Inc., located in Calexico, California, in the amount of $86,000, for the company’s violation of CARB’s air quality regulations.
An investigation conducted by CARB showed that BG Trucking, Inc. failed to meet the applicable smoke testing requirements for most of the heavy-duty diesel vehicles in its fleet. CARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13, § 2190 et seq.).
To settle the case, BG Trucking, Inc. agreed to the penalty of $500 per PSIP violation for a total of $86,000. The $86,000 will go to CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
Terms of the settlement also require BG Trucking, Inc. to attend either the CCDET I smoke-test training course or the CARB Online smoke-test training. BG Trucking, Inc. shall also submit PSIP tests for the entire applicable fleet for the 2021 and 2022 calendar years. The company has agreed to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward.
