Benjamin Moore & Company (Benjamin Moore) of Montvale, New Jersey manufactured, sold, supplied, and offered for sale nonaerosol paint thinners and multi-purpose solvents which contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) and aromatic compound content that exceeded the standards specified in title 17, California Code of Regulations, section 94509. These violations resulted in the excess emission of 26.5 tons of VOC and 11.5 ton aromatic compounds into the atmosphere. To come into compliance, Benjamin Moore has stopped sales of the noncompliant products.
