Arch Chemicals, Inc. Case Settles for $6,580

Arch Chemicals, Inc. (Morristown, New Jersey) sold, supplied, and/or offered for sale a non-compliant General Purpose Cleaner in California. Enforcement staff purchased a sample of Leisure Time Citrabright that contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the 0.5 percent limit for the General Purpose Cleaner: Non-aerosol category specified in title 17 California Code of Regulations section 94509(a). The violation resulted in 0.47 tons of excess VOC emissions, based upon the formulation and the sales information provided by Arch Chemicals. Arch Chemicals ceased sales until the product is reformulated.
