Approved or Rejected VW/Audi/Porsche Modifications
- 3.0 Liter diesel Audi vehicles: On December 18, 2017, CARB & U.S. EPA announced approval of proposed modification for 3.0 L, Gen 2 passenger cars. Affected vehicles are:
- A6, A7, A8, A8L & Q5
There are approximately 5,500 of these vehicles in California
- 2.0 Liter Gen 2 manual diesel vehicles: On September 7, 2017, CARB & U.S. EPA announced rejection of proposed modifications for 2.0 L, Gen 2 vehicles with manual transmissions:
- Passats with manual transmissions
- 2.0 Liter Gen 3 diesel vehicles: On January 6, 2017, CARB and U.S. EPA announced approval of modifications for what are referred to as 2.0 L, Gen 3 (Generation 3) diesel vehicles. Affected vehicles are:
- 2015 Beetle, Beetle Convertible, Golf, Golf Sportwagen, Jetta, Passat and Audi A3
There are more than 10,000 of these vehicles in California.
- 2.0 Liter Gen 2 automatic diesel vehicles: On May 19, 2017, CARB & U.S. EPA announced approval of modifications for automatic 2-liter, Gen 2 diesel engine found in model years 2012-2014. Affected vehicles are:
- 2012-2014 Passats
There are about 11,000 of these in California.
- 2.0 Liter Gen 1 diesel vehicles: On July 27, 2017, CARB & U.S. EPA announced approval of modifications for 2.0 L, Gen 1 diesel vehicles. Affected diesel vehicles are:
- 2009 – 2014 Jetta, Golf, Beetle and Audi A3
These modifications cover approximately 47,000 cars in California.
- 3.0 L diesel Sport Utility Vehicles: On October 23, 2017, CARB & U.S. EPA announced approval of modifications for 3.0 L Sport Utility Vehicles. Affected diesel vehicles are:
- 2013 – 2016 Touareg, Porsche Cayenne, Audi Q7
There are about 7,000 vehicles in California covered by this modification.
