APM Terminals Pacific, LLC Settles Cargo Handling Equipment Violations For $18,375.00
In March 2020, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) settled a case in the amount of $18,375.00 with APM Terminals Pacific, LLC (APM) located in Los Angeles, California. The penalty was for violations of the the Cargo Handling Equipment (CHE) Regulation. The violations were discovered during a routine inspection of CHE at the APM Terminal in the Port of Los Angeles by CARB staff. An investigation by CARB showed that APM failed to perform annual opacity tests on 46 pieces of CHE as required by the CHE Regulation in 2017 and 2018. The penalty paid in this case was $399.46 per violation for 46 pieces of CHE. To settle the case, APM agreed to the $18,375.00 penalty and to comply with CARB’s CHE Regulation.
