Angelus Shoe Polish Co., Inc. Settles For $12,400
In September 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Angelus Shoe Polish Co., Inc. (Angelus), with its principal location in Santa Fe Springs, California in the amount of $12,400 for the company’s violations of CARB’s air quality regulations.
CARB staff conducted an investigation that revealed Angelus sold, supplied, and/or offered for sale, footwear or leather care products for use in California containing concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) exceeding the standards specified in the Consumer Products Regulation (Cal. Code Regs., tit.17, § 94507 et. seq.). The VOC violations resulted in 0.62 tons of excess VOC emissions.
The penalty amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. Angelus fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter and ceased their sale of the noncompliant products for use in California.
