American SportWorks Case Settlement
American SportWorks Case Settles for $11,300
American SportWorks will pay $11,300.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $11,300.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality. This settlement was reached in March, 2017.
In May 2014, American SportWorks reported to the Air Resources Board (ARB) annual California sales figures for thirteen engine families of Small Off-Road Engines (SORE) that were not covered by an Evaporative Emission Control System Executive Order. American SportWorks reported 226 total sales to California consumers, covering model years 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014. These engines are used to power full size utility vehicles. Sale of these engines in California without certification under an ARB Executive Order violates Title 13, California Code of Regulations section 2400 et seq. American SportWorks provided ARB with all needed information during the Agency’s investigation and fully cooperated in the resolution of the matter. To settle the case, American SportWorks agreed to the $11,300.00 penalty and to comply with ARB regulations.
