AllerAir Industries Inc. Settles For $20,000

In August 2026, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with AllerAir Industries Inc. (AllerAir), with its principal location in Quebec, Canada, for the company’s violation of the Regulation for Limiting Ozone Emissions from Indoor Air Cleaning Devices (Indoor ACD Regulation), under California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94800 et seq.

An investigation conducted by CARB staff revealed and documented that AllerAir violated the Indoor ACD Regulation because they manufactured for use and supplied to California, indoor air cleaning devices that were not certified by CARB at the time of sale, and failed to include a California sales advisory statement on webpages advertising uncertified devices. AllerAir also failed to re-certify previously certified indoor air cleaning devices after changing the model name and failed to notify distributors, retailers, and sellers of the Indoor ACD Regulation. Indoor air cleaners are subject to an ozone emissions concentration limit of 0.050 parts per million (ppm) and are required to be certified prior to being sold or offered for sale in California.

To come into compliance, AllerAir demonstrated their devices met ozone emission standards and received CARB certification for the indoor air cleaning devices that were not certified at the time of sale. AllerAir also notified distributors and sellers of the Indoor ACD Regulation, and re-certified their indoor air cleaning devices under the new model name. AllerAir fully cooperated with CARB toward resolution in this matter. The total penalty amount of $20,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
