Act Earth Wise, dba Home Office Makeover PLLC Settles for $3,000
In June 2026, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Act Earth Wise, dba Home Office Makeover PLLC (Act Earth Wise), with its principal location in Bainbridge Island, Washington, for the company’s violation of the Regulation for Limiting Ozone Emissions from Indoor Air Cleaning Devices (Indoor ACD Regulation), under California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94800 et seq.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff revealed that Act Earth Wise violated the Indoor ACD Regulation because they sold in California indoor air cleaning devices that were not certified by CARB and failed to include a statement on their website excluding sales to California. Indoor air cleaners are subject to an ozone emission concentration limit of 0.050 parts per million (ppm) and are required to be certified prior to selling in California.
To come into compliance, Act Earth Wise stopped selling the uncertified indoor air cleaners in California and added the required language to webpages advertising the uncertified devices. The total penalty amount of $3,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
