Miguel Santiago

Miguel served in the State Legislature from 2014 to 2024. He represented one of California’s most diverse districts, including Downtown Los Angeles, Boyle Heights, Pico Union MacArthur Park, Koreatown, Chinatown, Little Tokyo and surrounding cities including Vernon, Huntington Park, Montebello, and City of Commerce. He focused on eradicating homelessness, building affordable housing, making community college free, defending and providing services for immigrant communities, and took on environmental justice issues and tackled income inequality.
He served as Majority Whip and Assistant Majority Leader, as well as chaired the Communications and Conveyance Committee and the Government Organization Committee. Miguel held a seat on the Appropriations, Arts & Entertainment, Education, Health, Higher Education, Public Safety, and Utilities & Energy committees during his time in the Legislature.
Prior to the Assembly, Miguel served on the Los Angeles Community College Board from 2008 to 2014. He helped lead efforts to pass a 3.5-billion-dollar bond, the largest voter approved bond in the district’s history. As the President of the Board, he led the efforts to expand 21st century job skills training programs, and to build and renovate all nine colleges.
Miguel enjoys spending time with his wife, Celina, and their kids, Ethan and Brielle. He loves family movie nights, jogging and traveling around the region for Ethan and Brielle’s Brazilian Jiujitsu tournaments. And he is a dog dad to Ewok, Thor, and Loki.
