$50,000 in Fines Paid by A.V.S.T.A
In September, 2008, Antelope Valley Transportation Agency (A.V.S.T.A.) agreed to pay $50,000 in penalties; $37,500 to the California Air Pollution Fund and $12,500 to the Peralta Community College District, for violating air quality regulations. An investigation by the Air Resources Board showed that the A.V.S.T.A. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. The Air Resources Board documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSI). To settle the case, A.V.S.T.A. agreed to the $50,000 penalty and to comply with the PSI and other ARB programs.
