$10,000 in Fines Paid by LA Custom Coach
During March 2007, the ARB discovered that the limousine builder, LA Custom Coach, was offering for sale and selling new, non-California certified vehicles in California. The modifications LA Custom made to the original vehicles rendered them uncertified and illegal for sale or use in California. Once LA Custom Coach exceeded the original certified configuration, they became responsible for certifying the vehicles with ARB themselves. The retail sale by LA Custom of new, non-California certified vehicles violated Sections 43150 through 43156 of the California Health and Safety Code (H&SC). Additionally, the modification performed by LA Custom was in violation of California Vehicle Code (VC) 27156. Through investigation it was discovered that LA Custom sold new non-California certified 2005-2007 model year vehicles in California. LA Custom settled with ARB for these violations by paying a total of $10,000 to the Air Pollution Control Fund. The Settlement Agreement was signed by LA Custom on November 26, 2008.
