Grate Chef Case Settles for $4,000
On January 21, 2009, Grate Chef settled the alleged violations in the Notice of Violation for $4,000. In 2008, Grate Chef sold, supplied, or offered for sale in California approximately 300 cases of Grate Chef 6 Fire Starters product subject to the Consumer Products Regulation which was not certified by ARB as a “Charcoal Lighter Material” and was not marked with a date of manufacture. The Consumer Products Regulation requires all “Charcoal Lighter Material” offered for sale in California must be certified by ARB and marked with a date code.
