Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. Case Settles for $53,000
Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. has paid $53,000.00 in penalties to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, for violating air quality regulations. This settlement was reached on May 4, 2011. An investigation by the ARB showed that Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. vessel, MSC Aniello, failed to properly complete switchover for its Main Engine, Auxiliary Engines, and Boiler Engine from Heavy Fuel Oil over to Low-Sulfur Distillate Fuel upon entry into Regulated California Waters. To settle the case, Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. agreed to the $53,000.00 penalty and to comply with ARB regulations.
