Fernando Perez DBA Perez Brothers Transport Case Settles for $31,125
Fernando Perez DBA Perez Brothers Transport agreed to pay $31,125.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations; $23,343.75 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $7,781.25 to the Peralta Community College District for distribution to participating California Council on Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) colleges. This settlement was reached in July 2011. An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Perez Brothers Transport failed to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) by not smoke testing diesel vehicles in its California fleet and the Solid Waste Collection Vehicle (SWCV) rule by failing to use best available control technology to bring its SWCV fleet into compliance with the in-use performance standards. To settle the case, Perez Brothers Transport agreed to the $31,125.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and the SWCV rule.
