BP West Coast Products LLC Case Settles for $3,500
In November 2011, BP paid $3,500 in penalties for the sale, offer for sale, supply or offer for supply of premium grade gasoline in violation of California reformulated gasoline regulations. On November 6, 2009, BP's Vinvale terminal over oxygenated one cargo tank compartment that contained premium grade gasoline. A contract carrier delivered the over oxygenated gasoline to an ARCO service station. BP reported a test result of the premium grade gasoline to have an ethanol content of 26 volume %. This value exceeds the maximum value of 10 volume % permitted by State law. Based on BP's estimates, approximately 11,000 gallons of over oxygenated fuel was sold.
