Truckee-Tahoe Lumber Company Case Settles for $4,500.00
In May 2013, Truckee-Tahoe Lumber Company paid $4,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $3,375.00 went to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $1,125.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Truckee-Tahoe Lumber Company failed to properly self-inspect its diesel trucks, as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and also failed to meet PM BACT requirements for all 1996 through 1999 engine model years by January 1, 2012. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Truck & Bus Regulation. To settle the case, TTruckee-Tahoe Lumber Company agreed to the $4,500.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, the Truck & Bus Regulation and other ARB programs.
