SMMI Event Notifications

The primary intent of SMMI is not for real-time notification. However, during data collection, there may be instances where pollutant concentrations significantly exceed expected levels. To address these situations, a response protocol has been established to ensure that such anomalies are promptly reviewed and assessed in coordination with relevant agencies and shared with community stakeholders. If concentrations exceed the thresholds (defined in section 14.1 of all SMMI CAMPs and provided in the document below), and the detection is deemed viable after analysis and assessment by Aclima or a Partner Mobile Lab, Aclima will inform CARB and CARB will provide the information in the following table.

Upon completion of the contract in May 2026, Aclima will provide accessible online, public, interactive and free-to-use visualizations built with Esri StoryMaps and hosted on CARB's website. Additionally, CARB will make the finalized point by point monitoring data available for public access.
