P.F. Harris Manufacturing Company, LLC Settles For $80,000
In July 2024, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with P.F. Harris Manufacturing Company, LLC (PF Harris), with its principal location in Cartersville, Georgia, for the company’s violation of the Regulation for Reducing Emissions from Consumer Products (Consumer Products Regulation), as codified in the California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94507 et seq.
An investigation by CARB Enforcement staff revealed PF Harris sold, supplied, offered for sale and/or manufactured for use in California, a nonselective terrestial herbicide (nonaerosol) that contained a concentration of volatile organic compounds (VOC) exceeding the regulatory VOC standard for the Nonselective Terrestrial Herbicide category, specified in the Consumer Products Regulation (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 17, § 94507, subd. (a)).
PF Harris fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter and ceased sales of the noncompliant product in California. The penalty of $80,000, for 5.35 tons of excess VOC emissions, will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
