Williams Tank Lines, Inc. Case Settles for $42,500.00
In September 2013, Williams Tank Lines paid $42,500.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $31,875.00 went to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $10,625.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Williams Tank Lines failed to bring their fleet in compliance with the Statewide Truck and Bus regulation in-use performance standards and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Truck and Bus regulation. To settle the case, Williams Tank Lines agreed to the $42,500.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and Statewide Truck and Bus regulation.
