Western Family Foods, Inc. Company Case Settles for $17,400

Western Family Foods, Inc. (Gladstone, Oregon) sold, supplied, and/or offered for sale a non-compliant General Purpose Cleaner: Nonaerosol in California. Enforcement staff purchased samples of Western Family Glass Cleaner and Natural Directions Glass & Multi-Surface Cleaner that contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the 0.5 percent limit for the General Purpose Cleaner: Nonaerosol category specified in title 17, California Code of Regulations, section 94509(a). The violation resulted in 1.01 tons of excess VOC emissions. The settlement was fully executed in October 2018. Western Family Foods, Inc. has agreed to pay a penalty of $17,400 and has ceased all sales of the product in California.
