Weber-Stephens Products Company (Weber-Stephens) is a family-owned business which manufactures gas and charcoal grills, parts, and accessories.  ARB alleged that since at least 2003, Weber-Stephens sold, supplied, or offered for sale in California, a Weber original lighter cubes product, without obtaining the proper ARB certification and without displaying the date of manufacture as required for the “Charcoal Lighter Material” category in the Consumer Products Regulation.  Weber-Stephens claimed that the product was originally certified under a different name, but they had failed to modify their certification to reflect the changes.  On June 6, 2008, Weber-Stephen settled the violations for a payment of $7,500 in lieu of litigation.
