USF Reddaway, Inc. Case Settles for $30,000
In May, 2015 USF Reddaway Inc. paid $30,000.00. USF Reddaway Inc. agreed to pay a penalty of $30,000.00 for violating air quality regulations: $22,500.00 was paid to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $7,500.00 was paid to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that USF Reddaway Inc. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards as required by the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). ARB documented violations as they related to PSIP. To settle the case, USF Reddaway Inc. agreed to the $30,000.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP and other ARB programs.
