Transloading Express Inc. Case Settles for $18,250.00
In April 2013, Transloading Express Inc. agreed to pay $18,250.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $13,687.50 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $4,562.50 will go to Peralta Community College District to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Transloading Express Inc. failed to (1) properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards, a violation of the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and (2) meet the PM BACT requirements for their diesel vehicles with a GVWR greater than 26,000 lbs by phasing in 30% of their fleet by January 1, 2012 and 60% of their fleet by January 1, 2013, a violation of the Truck and Bus Regulation. To settle the case, Transloading Express Inc. agreed to the $18,250.00 penalty and to comply with the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program, the Statewide Truck and Bus Regulation, and other ARB programs.
