Toro Engineering, Inc. Case Settles for $3,750.00
In November 2013, Toro Engineering, Inc. agreed to pay $3,750.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $2,812 .00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $938.00 will go to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation CARB showed that Toro Engineering, Inc. failed to report and label its in-use off-road equipment prior to the April 1, 2009 deadline and failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. CARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and the Off-Road Diesel Vehicle Regulation (Off-Road Regulation) . To settle the case, TORO Engineering, Inc. agreed to the $3,750.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, Off-Road Regulation and other CARB regulations.
