Technical Chemical Company Case Settles for $3,000

Technical Chemical Company (Cleburne, Texas) sold, supplied, and/or offered for sale a non-compliant general purpose cleaner in California. Enforcement staff purchased a sample of Blue Magic Glass Wipes that contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) that exceeded the 0.5 percent limit for the General Purpose Cleaner: Non-aerosol category specified in title 17 California Code of Regulations section 94509(a). The violation resulted in 171 pounds of excess VOC emissions, based upon the formulation and the sales information provided by Technical Chemical Company. Technical Chemical Company has halted sales of the product in California.
