Stoner Incorporated Case Settles for $16,500.00
On September 22, 2013, a case was settled with Stoner Incorporated for selling “Stoner Natural Citrus Xenit Cleaner and Remover” subject to the VOC limit for the General Purpose Degreaser category. The product contained concentrations of VOC’s exceeding the 20 percent by weight VOC limit for aerosol products. While this case was being resolved, Stoner self-disclosed an additional violation involving Stoner Invisible Glass Wipes where the packages represented that it could be used to clean multiple surfaces and therefore was also subject to the VOC limit for the General Purpose Cleaner category but did not meet the new 0.5% VOC limit. There were approximately 1.28 tons of excess emissions attributed to the Xenit Cleaner and Remover, and 0.03 tons of excess emissions attributed to the Invisible Glass Wipes. The company paid $16,500 to settle the case.
