South Bound Express Company Case Settles for $9,000
On September 12, 2011, the South Bound Express Company, (SBX) agreed to pay $9,000.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations; $6,750.00 will go to the California Air Pollution Control Fund and $2,250.00 to the Peralta Community College District for distribution to participating California Community Colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that SBX failed to comply with the Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) Airborne Toxic Control Measure (ATCM) as codified in Title 13 California Code of Regulations (CCR), Section 2477. To settle the case, SBX agreed to the $9,000.00 penalty and to comply with the TRU rule.
