Sherwin Williams Company Settlement 2010
Sherwin Williams Company Case Settles for $9,900
On August 5, 2010, a case was settled with the Sherwin Williams Company for marketing their Dura Seal Wax and Cleaner product as a “wood cleaner.” The product was sold in small quantities from specialty retail outlets as a non-aerosol wood cleaner, but did not meet the standard for that product category of 4 percent by weight volatile organic compound limit effective December 31, 2006, Title 17, of the Consumer Products Regulation. Sherwin Williams removed the remaining product from distribution in California and made a payment of $9,900 to settle the case.
