S. S. Skiko's Trucking, Inc. Settles for $3,800
S.S. Skikos Trucking, Inc. will pay $3,800.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $2,850.00 will go to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $950.00 went to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology program. This settlement was reached in May, 2016.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that S.S. Skikos, Inc. failed to: (1) properly self-inspect its diesel trucks as required by Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP), (2) include the Disclosure of Regulation Applicability on the bill of sale, and (3) bring a Transport Refrigeration Unit (TRU) it operates in California into compliance with the in-use performance standards. ARB documented violations as they related to PSIP, TRU Airborne Toxic Control Measure, and the Truck and Bus (TB) Regulation. To settle the case, S.S. Skikos Trucking, Inc. agreed to the $3,800.00 penalty and to comply with PSIP, TRU, TB and other ARB programs.
