Right Way Express Inc. Case Settles for $1,725
In February 2014, Right Way Express, Inc. agreed to pay a penalty of $1,725.00 for violating air quality regulations: $1,294.00 will be paid to the Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $431.00 will be paid to the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Right Way Express, Inc. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards; and failed to ensure all engines of their fleet vehicles had a properly affixed Emission Control Label. ARB documented violations as they related to the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP) and Emission Control Label (ECL) Program. To settle the case, Right Way Express, Inc. agreed to the $1,725.00 penalty and to comply with the PSIP, ECL and other ARB programs.
