These Guidelines provide eligibility and funding criteria for two new project categories, and represent CARB’s first steps in providing incentives to clean up stationary sources of air pollution. The new project categories are incentives to reduce hexavalent chromium emissions from chrome plating activities, and a suite of project types to reduce exposure at public schools. These Guidelines will continue to be expanded with new categories of projects, to be responsive to the needs of the most heavily impacted communities across the State.
In May 2020, staff shared a proposed new chapter of the Guidelines with the public containing a framework to allow air districts, with guidance from community members, to create new kinds of stationary source incentives as well as new incentives consistent with the Community Emissions Reduction Programs developed for communities selected to participate in the Community Air Protection Program. CARB’s executive officer approved this new chapter in October 2020.
