Pemer Packing Company Inc. Case Settles for $43,875.00
In December 2013, Pemer Packing Company, Inc. agreed to pay $43,875.00 in penalties for violating air quality regulations: $32,906.00 to the California Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality; $10,969.00 for the Peralta Colleges Foundation to fund emission education classes conducted by participating California community colleges, under the California Council for Diesel Education and Technology (CCDET) program.
An investigation by the Air Resources Board (ARB) showed that Pemer Packing Company, Inc. failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks to assure the trucks met state smoke emission standards. ARB documented violations as they related to the Statewide Truck and Bus regulations (STB) and the Periodic Smoke Inspection Program (PSIP). To settle the case, Pemer Packing Company, Inc. agreed to the $43,875.00 penalty and to comply with all applicable ARB regulations.
