Patmont Motor Werks Pays $2,675 as Agreed in Settlement
The payment of $2,675 by Patmont Motor Werks, Inc. (PMW) is part of a settlement reached in November 2001 with PMW and Komatsu Zenoah Co. (KZ) involving the sale of motorized skateboards (scooters) equipped with non-California certified engines. The settlement called for a penalty of $100,000 from KZ and PMW combined. This amount was paid in December 2001. In addition, the settlement called for $2,675 to be paid by PMW for scooters sold after the initial agreement was reached on August 1, 2001. This amount was to be reduced by $25 for each recalled scooter. PMW was unable to recall any scooters; therefore, they paid the full amount.
