Severts of Columbia LLC Settles For $47,363
In May 2025, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Severts of Columbia LLC (Severts), with its principal location in West Columbia, South Carolina for the company’s violation of the Regulation to Reduce Emissions of Diesel Particulate Matter, Oxides of Nitrogen and Other Criteria Pollutants, from In-Use Heavy-Duty Diesel-Fueled Vehicles (Truck and Bus Regulation), as codified in the California Code of Regulations, title 13, section 2025.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff revealed that Severts was operating an illegal glider vehicle which violated the in-use requirements of the Truck and Bus Regulation (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 13, § 2025 et seq.). The terms of the settlement include a requirement for Severts to pay a penalty of $47,363, which is suspended unless Severts brings the vehicle that is the subject of this violation back into California.
Through counsel, Severts fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. The penalty amount, if deemed necessary, will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
