Virtual Community Meeting on Racial Equity Lens Community Expert Solicitation: On January 7 via remote access, CARB will host a community meeting on the community-expert solicitation for the agency’s Racial Equity Lens (REL). CARB’s REL is a racial-equity-impact analysis tool developed to advance the agency’s vision for racial equity. This vision includes a future where all Californians can equitably breathe healthy and clean air, benefit from the actions taken to address climate change, and reside where race is no longer a predictor of life outcomes. At this meeting, staff will provide information on CARB’s REL and answer questions about the application process for the community-expert solicitation. CARB is seeking five community leaders and racial justice experts to help shape CARB’s REL and to inform staff’s approach to implementing the tool. Spanish interpretation will be available at this meeting. More information, including event materials, the staff presentation, and the meeting recording will be posted on CARB’s Vision for Racial Equity page.
California Climate Investments Benefit Assessment Tool Virtual Question-and-Answer Session: On January 7 via remote access, CARB will host a question-and-answer (Q&A) session on the revised California Climate Investments benefit assessment tool. This will be the first of two scheduled sessions. Previously referred to as benefit criteria tables, these benefit assessment tools have been updated and are available for public review through January 17, 2025. The benefit assessment tools are used by administering agencies and applicants to determine if their California Climate Investments projects are providing direct, meaningful, and assured benefits to overburdened communities. These tools were updated to reflect changes in the recently released 2024 Funding Guidelines for Agencies that Administer California Climate Investments. This Q&A session will provide an opportunity for the public to ask questions, share ideas, and learn more about the updates made. The second Q&A session will be held on January 13.
