Please see below for upcoming public events for the week of December 16, 2024.
Evening Community Meeting on Clean Transportation Projects for a Cleaner California: On December 17 via remote access, CARB will host an evening community meeting to discuss plans for funding clean transportation projects, updates on incentive project implementation, and other CARB initiatives. This meeting, which is part of a series of meetings hosted on the third Tuesday of most months, will offer a forum for community members to express their thoughts, concerns, and suggestions. The purpose is to hold focused discussions on CARB’s Clean Transportation Incentives Funding Plan development process, which explains how CARB will spend money on projects related to zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) and improving air quality. Although the Funding Plan is generally developed between May and November, CARB staff will continue to hold regular evening community meetings outside of the Funding Plan development timeline to provide updates, solicit feedback, and address questions.
Public Workshop on Potential Updates to the Landfill Methane Regulation: On December 18 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to discuss potential updates to the Landfill Methane Regulation (LMR). Municipal solid waste landfills are the second largest source of methane emissions in California. LMR requires owners and operators of certain municipal solid waste landfills to install and optimally operate gas collection and control systems, monitor and repair emissions exceedances and other performance issues, ensure that control devices achieve a minimum 99% methane destruction efficiency, and report certain information annually to CARB. At the workshop, staff will discuss current LMR requirements, best practices for operation of landfill gas collection and control systems, technologies for identifying methane leaks, and potential changes to the regulation. Meeting participants will have an opportunity to provide feedback during the workshop and will be able to submit written comments afterward until January 15, 2025, at 5 p.m. More information and workshop materials will be available on the LMR Meetings & Workshops page.
