Public Workshop on Proposed Carl Moyer Program Guidelines Update: On May 7 in Riverside and via remote access, CARB will host the second public workshop on the proposed updates to the Carl Moyer Memorial Air Quality Standards Attainment Program Guidelines. This will be a continuation of the virtual kickoff workshop held last December. CARB staff will highlight proposed changes and concepts to the guidelines. These proposed changes will ensure consistency throughout the source category chapters, reflect current regulations and advances in technology, and streamline program administration. The public will have the opportunity to provide input.
Soil Nitrogenous Emissions “Subject Matter Expert Review Panel” Contract Kickoff: On May 7 via remote access, CARB will host a public workshop to kick off the Soil Nitrogenous Emissions Subject Matter Expert Review Panel (SMERP) contract. In August 2023, CARB released the application form seeking five technical experts to serve on SMERP in order to independently evaluate existing data and science to improve the current understanding of nitrogenous emissions from soils, particularly in California. CARB’s Research Division evaluated all applications received and selected the SMERP panelists who will conduct a comprehensive study and provide guidance that will inform next steps in refining the underlying data and methods currently used in regional air-quality modeling to support State Implementation Plans.
Fiscal Year 2024-25 Research Project Solicitation Public Meeting: On May 8 via remote access, CARB will host a virtual public meeting to discuss the Fiscal Year (FY) 2024-25 Research Project Solicitation. CARB has identified its FY 2024-25 priority research projects, which support regulatory concerns related to health, environmental justice, economics, air pollution, and climate change. Staff will help interested parties learn more about the solicitation of research pre-proposals for the upcoming fiscal year. Details will be provided on all projects included in the solicitation and the expectations for submitted pre-proposals. More background and process information, including public meeting slides, can be found on the CARB Fiscal Year 2024-25 Research Project Solicitation page.
