CR&R Incorporated Settles for $282,000
In April 2024, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with CR&R Incorporated (CR&R) for the company’s violation of the Periodic Smoke Inspections of Heavy-Duty Diesel-Powered Vehicles Regulation (PSIP Regulation), as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 13, sections 2190 et seq.
An investigation by CARB verified and documented that CR&R failed to properly self-inspect their diesel trucks, repair, or to retest vehicles within 45 days after a failed test, as required by the PSIP Regulation.
Terms of the settlement include a requirement that CR&R have their staff trained to conduct testing under the Heavy-Duty Inspection and Maintenance Program (HD I/M) and maintain compliance with the HD I/M Regulation and other CARB regulations going forward. CR&R fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. The full civil penalty amount of $282,000 will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
