Lifeworks Technology Group LLC Settles For $17,200
In February 2024, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with Lifeworks Technology Group LLC (Lifeworks), with its principal location in New York, New York, for the company’s violation of the Regulation for Reducing Emissions from Consumer Products (Consumer Products Regulation), as codified in the California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94507 et seq.
CARB Enforcement staff conducted an investigation that revealed Lifeworks sold, supplied, offered for sale and/or manufactured for use in California, nonaerosol general purpose cleaners that contained concentrations of volatile organic compounds (VOC) exceeding the 0.5 percent VOC standard for the General Purpose Cleaner category, specified in the Consumer Products Regulation, under California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94509(a). In addition, Lifeworks failed to provide an explanation of the code representing the date of manufacture, as required annually by the Consumer Product Regulation, under California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94512(c).
Lifeworks fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter and ceased sales of noncompliant products in California. The penalty of $17,200, for 0.3 tons of excess VOC emissions, three days of violation for excess VOC emissions, and one day of product dating violation, will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
