MBU Marketing Corporation Settles For $7,800
In October 2023, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) reached a settlement with MBU Marketing Corporation (MBU), with its principal location in Panorama City, California, for the company’s violation of the Regulation for Reducing Emissions from Consumer Products (Consumer Products Regulation), as codified in California Code of Regulations, title 17, section 94500 et seq.
An investigation conducted by CARB staff revealed that MBU failed to meet the volatile organic compound (VOC) limit requirements for two nail polish remover products (Cal. Code Regs., tit. 17, § 94500 et seq.).
MBU fully cooperated with CARB to resolve this matter. Terms of the settlement include a requirement for MBU to remove the noncompliant products from the marketplace, and to comply with all other CARB regulations going forward. The total penalty amount will be deposited into CARB’s Air Pollution Control Fund, which provides funding for projects and research to improve California's air quality.
